I guess the demise of the 5 paddlers really leaves a great impact on me

and every other Singaporean too

Who will accept the fact that 5 young lives are gone just like this

Not me, not you, definitely not their families!

We know they die for one thing
their passion...Dragon Boat!

Everyone has their own passions and dreams

So do I and my fellow teammates

We have been playing Volleyball for the past decade

Yet what do we achieve in the end?

Nothing...

It's every sportsman's dream, in Singapore, to be in the Sea Games Contingent
To put on the jersey with our nation logo on it
To give our best performance in each competition
Because we are proud to be Singaporean
But had we ever been given a chance to do so?

No! Never!

Why are our efforts all going down to drain?
Why are our efforts not seen by others?
Why do the Association only think about the Women's Team?
What about the Men's Team?
Had we not done anything on our part?
Had we not committed enough for it?

During my two years in NS
I had to rush down for training every night after my nights out or duty
And going back to camp like a zombie without any complain
I had to skip my dinner so that I wouldn't miss my training
I had to fork out my own money to take a cab down to the Sports hall
in order that I wouldn't be too late for training
I had to put down my dignity because my coach was biased against me
I had to bear with all the agonies when my trainer cut my allowance without any reason
I had put it all aside and bear with it
Because it's my dream to be in the National Team
It's my dream to represent Singapore in the Sea Games
I trained hard and earned myself the Singapore Jersey
But what happened in the end
VAS disbanded the Men's Team!
Our hard works were decried
Our dream vanished
We sweat on court...we bled on court...
All for nothing!!!

There's nothing my teammates or I can do
Other than keeping our fingers cross
Praying that our Association will wanna give us a chance to prove ourselves.

If there's no National Team in Singapore
I would suggest that the Association be closed down
Thus, there won't be any Volleyball event in Singapore
What's the point of having those young and talented players choosing their path
in Volleyball, but they only getta play in the Inter-Schools tournaments,
What will happen to them after they leave their schools?
It's that the end of their passion for Volleyball?
They train hard, just like any others do, but without a goal.

I'm really disappointed with the decision made by our previous President
For disbanding the Team.
I hope our new President will do something for us
And not let our efforts be wasted.

I'm just saying out my feeling towards this whole thing
